No Peace for Refugee Women

Creators of Peace event in Sydney

Saturday, February 17, 2018 - 15:15 to 17:30

This event will explore the situation for women in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Myanmar, highlight important issues for 'Women At Risk' - a visa category for humanitarian settlement in Australia - and discuss what kind of practical support will be helpful to refugee women in Sydney. The speaker, Quan-Minh Bottrill-Chau started her life as a child refugee. She was resettled by the UNHCR to Germany. For the past 15 years, she has worked in international aid and with local refugees and asylum seekers. She has been involved in programmes in Germany, Lao PDR, China, South Africa, and Australia. She will be inviting other speakers who work in the field of refugee resettlement, refugee women advocacy, and refugee women from different cultural backgrounds.

What to bring: Your open heart and big smile! If you would like to stay, we will be having a BBQ at Ashfield Park after the event. Com along and be part of the conversation with a focus on peace.
