Governance, Membership and Finance

The association, ‘Initiatives of Change Australia’ is incorporated as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, registered with the Australian Charities and Not‑for‑profits Commission (ACNC), ABN 22 004 350 789.

Membership of Initiatives of Change Australia is open to all those who accept to share the ownership, responsibility and decision-making for this movement and organization in Australia, and who uphold its values, mission and fellowship. Membership brings with it the right to participate in General Meetings of the Association (usually one meeting a year), to vote in elections for a Council of Management, and to stand for Council membership. Members of the Association also review and approve the Annual Accounts, and help ensure compliance with the Constitution.

The association currently has around 100 members. For information about membership, please contact the Secretary.

The Council of Management (CoM) is responsible for the financial and legal management of IofC Australia, presently consisting of 10 members: Andrew Lancaster (Chair), Mike Brown (Deputy Chair), Paul Wilkins (Treasurer), Jonathan Lancaster (Secretary), Daya Bhagwandas, Quynh-Tram Trinh, Francis Halim, Penny Herd, Ron Lawler and Paul Ntoumos.

An Annual General Meeting (AGM) of members receives the audited accounts and annual report of activities, and elects Council members. The AGM is usually held in conjunction with a National Gathering of the IofC network. Members who are unable to attend the AGM in person are encouraged to vote by proxy. To request the annual audited accounts and annual reports for previous years, contact the Secretary, Initiatives of Change Australia, 226 Kooyong Rd, Toorak, Victoria 3142.

In the past, a corps of full-time volunteers managed many organizational activities, and was supported in various ways through stipends and in-kind contributions. Others made their own financial resources available to enable new ventures or participation. IofC Australia supports a strong culture of volunteerism, while also recognizing that in the context of today’s workforce, paid workers and staff are necessary to support its network of volunteers. The organization continues to  seek new public and private sources of financing, and welcomes all offers of contributions as well as access to contacts and networks that may wish to support IofC’s peace building work.

To contribute, contact the Executive Officer, Initiatives of Change Australia, 226 Kooyong Rd, Toorak, Victoria 3142.

A dedicated fund, The Dorcas Trust, has been established to provide ex gratia financial support for people who commit their time and energy to the programmes and work of IofC. Details and contributions can be sent to The Administrator, The Dorcas Trust: click here
